Satterfield Named GSC Pitcher of the Week
Satterfield puts up award-worthy performances against No. 20 Rollins, UWA, UNA
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference named Valdosta State's Holly Satterfield the GSC Pitcher of the Week in the East Division.
Satterfield notched four wins against Rollins, West Alabama and North Alabama. She tossed three complete games, including an eight-inning, 10-strikeout performance in a 5-4 come-from-behind win over 20th-ranked Rollins.
She also tossed a three-hit, five-inning shutout against West Alabama en route to an 8-0 win. Then Satterfield led VSU past North Alabama, 9-1.
Her most impressive pitching performance of the week, though, might have come in just 2 1/3 innings of play. Satterfield came out of the bullpen to pitch no-hit innings for another come-from-behind victory, this one a 6-5 win over North Alabama.
For the week, she struck out 23 batters in 21 1/3 innings, allowing only 12 hits and two earned runs for a 0.66 earned run average.
This marks Satterfield's first GSC Pitcher of the Week award of the season and her career.
