Six Homers, One No-hitter Wins it for VSU

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State tore apart Albany State Wednesday night with 8-0 and 11-0 wins in a doubleheader. Margaret Carter pitched her third no-hitter of the year, striking out 10 and walking just one. Carter moved to 15-3 while Holly Satterfield moved to 19-2 with nine strikeouts and giving up just three hits in game one.

Melessa Jackson continued her excellent hitting she started at the GSC Crossover. She pounded two home runs, one of which was a grand slam to put game two out of reach. She wasn't the only one though.

Stephanie Carlson, making her second start in eight games, put on a hitting clinic in game one. She was a perfect four for four with a home run, four RBIs and two hits. Then, in game two, she homered again for three more RBIs and a run scored.

Marti Littlefield and Morgan Johnson both notched homers on the day as well. Littlefield was one for two with an RBI and two runs in game one. Johnson was two for three in the day's opener with an RBI. In game two she was two for three with one run scored and an RBI.

Amber Shaw was three for four in game one with two runs scored and one for two with three runs scored in game two. Alyssa Shirey scored two runs while April Hutchens scored one and hit in an RBI in game two.

Valdosta State looks to be running on all cylinders and will need it this weekend. The Lady Blazers will face West Georgia in a doubleheader Saturday at 3 p.m. and then go against No. 12 Alabama-Huntsville for tops in the south region at 1 p.m. Sunday.
